Connecting youth with engaging and meaningful gardening projects and connecting MGVs with quality resources to work with them. Education includes: ongoing displays and activities at farmers markets - drop-in activities and take away educational pieces; elementary school high interest days; Earth Day celebrations; 4H events; State Fair scavenger hunt; Retzer Apple Fest, and Wehr Nature Center Bug Day.
Share your garden knowledge and the resources of the UW-Madison Extension; advise and teach volunteers, staff, and participants to help them plan, install, plant, care for, and harvest their community garden as needed. MGVs do not care for the garden but advise community members about how to care for their own garden. Generally a short-term project.
Volunteer by giving presentations to the public. Training is provided to all who are interested in giving presentations. Speaker notes are provided as well. If you are a member of SEWMG and would like to view the SEWMG Speakers Bureau Training Video, click here.
If you have questions, please Contact Chair Jean Akhter or Beth Peterson.
If you are interested in having a SEWMG master gardener provide a presentation for an event or your organization, please contact us via email at SpeakerScheduling@sewmg.org.
Residents can ask lawn and gardening questions year-round by using the "Ask Your Gardening Question" button below; this will take you to the Division of Extension Wisconsin Horticulture webpage to ask your question.
