The UW-Madison Extension site will provide you with important information regarding the Master Gardener Program and how to volunteer.
You must first be a volunteer of an organization for volunteer service hours to count, and that organization must meet the criteria of UW-Madison Extension federal and state nondiscrimination laws and policies. The organization you volunteer for determines who oversees the activities and you must follow the requirements of the organization.
This website shows volunteer opportunities for master gardeners in Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties; however, master gardeners can now volunteer anywhere in the state.
There are a variety of opportunities to choose from: beautifying gardens; growing and harvesting food; garden mentoring; presentations and educational workshops.
Provide support for SouthEast Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association and its support of the UW-Madison Extension Master Gardener Program.
Educate the public on principles and methods that enable gardeners to enjoy gardening throughout their lifetime. How to modify the garden and the gardener.
Educate the public about the importance of pollinators and how to support them with gardening for ecological sustainability and strengthening local and home food production.
Share your knowledge of plant care as a presenter, mentor, or Plant Health Advisor assisting UW-Madison Extension to meet the needs of the public and connect youth with gardening.
A team of MGVs design, setup and take down the SEWMG display at the Home & Garden Show and staff the Wisconsin State Fair; answering general gardening questions of visitors and providing handouts.
Visit the forms page for annual reporting, budgeting, and reimbursement.
